SITA Community Grant applications close 31 January
Funding applications for the first round of SITA Australia’s Community Grants Program close on Friday 31 January at 5 pm AEDT.
The program was launched in October 2013 and is said to be the first national community grant program for the waste and resource recovery industry in Australia. It is making grants between $500 and $5000 available to support community organisations committed to increasing participation in social and environmental projects.
SITA Managing Director Eric Gernath said the program is looking to support “organisations and projects that improve the quality of the local environment, inspire participation in sustainable activities through education, contribute to improved health and wellbeing or encourage recreation and community building”.
He added that SITA has “a long history of supporting a range of community initiatives”, with the grants program providing “a fantastic opportunity for local organisations to receive financial assistance to continue the positive impact they make in their local communities”.
“We are aware of the important role grassroots organisations play in contributing to the sustainability of local communities and we look forward to contributing to these organisations,” he said.
