Schneider Electric launches ‘Go Green in the City’ in Australia
Energy management specialist Schneider Electric has launched Go Green in the City 2014, a global business competition focused on developing innovative energy solutions for cities. In the last three years of the contest, Schneider Electric has seen strong interest from students and universities. This has led to a new and extended edition of the competition this year, reaching Australia for the first time.
From 15 November 2013 to 15 February 2014, teams of two business and engineering students (from 2nd year onwards), masters and MBA students globally are encouraged to join the challenge. At least one member of each team must be a female. Entrants will have to submit a case study illustrating their ideas for viable energy management solutions for one of the five basic urban sectors (residential, university, business, water and hospitals). In order to get expert tips about their project and gain an insight into Schneider Electric, students can unlock a creative challenge through an online game quiz.
On 28 February 2014, the top 100 teams will be announced and will have a month to begin to work with the help of a mentor from Schneider Electric in order to create a proposal and a video business case for their idea. The 12 best teams will then be flown to Paris in June 2014 to compete in the final. The winning team will be travelling the world with Schneider Electric, visiting facilities, networking with employees and high-level management, and will be offered jobs.
So far, more than 1744 preregistrations, representing 81 nationalities, have been received. The 2014 competition has more than a dozen new countries participating, bringing the total number of countries participating to 31. In addition to the increasing number of countries joining the global contest, Schneider Electric’s aim is to identify intern candidates for local country recruitment.
