Resource Recovery Australia achieves ISO certification

National not-for-profit and social enterprise Resource Recovery Australia (RRA) has achieved ISO certifications across the key operational standards of occupational health and safety, environmental management and quality.

The enterprise said it marks a significant milestone in its commitment to continually improving services for local government partners and communities across Australia.

“This achievement reinforces our promise to partners and stakeholders. We deliver services that meet the highest quality for safety, environmental care and performance,” said Matthew Curtis, General Manager of Resource Recovery Australia.

“ISO certification demonstrates that our systems are robust, trusted and built for continual improvement. It’s a foundation for deeper partnerships with councils who want professional, values-aligned services for their community.”

The ISO certification recognises RRA’s adherence to international standards in:

  • Workplace Health and Safety (ISO 45001:2018)
  • Environmental Management (ISO 14001:2016)
  • Quality Management (ISO 9001:2015).

The ISO certifications were awarded to RRA after an independent audit by SAI Global.

RRA operates across 14 waste management facilities nationwide. It operates Community Recycling Centres, Reviva Reuse Shops, The Tinkerage workshops and manage transfer stations, weighbridges and landfills in partnership with local councils, supporting the community to divert significant amounts of waste from landfills.

These facilities enable the company to repurpose materials, manage waste efficiently, and provide jobs to those facing barriers to employment, enhancing environmental sustainability and community outcomes.
