Nominations open for awards recognising green achievements
Energy and Resources Minister Peter Batchelor has called for nominations from the earth resource industry for the 2009 Strzelecki Awards.
“The Brumby government is taking action to promote investment in regional Victoria and these awards provide the earth resource industry with a valuable opportunity to showcase their innovations and achievements to the Victorian community,” Batchelor said.
“The Strzelecki Awards are open to mining, petroleum, geothermal and extractive industry operators and represent formal recognition by the Brumby government for environmental and social excellence in the resources sector."
The awards will feature:
- three categories for earth resource development projects undertaken by small, medium and large operators;
- a separate category for exploration activities;
- availability of a Department of Primary Industries officer to provide support and guidance with the application.
Batchelor said the 2009 awards program was developed following extensive collaboration with the earth resource industry and was tailored to meet the varying needs of the sectors within the industry.
Entries close at 5 pm on Monday 15 June 2009. Entry forms and eligibility criteria are included in the award entry kit available from the Banksia Environmental Foundation.
