New Energy Solar wins Australian Business Award for Eco Innovation

Sustainable investment fund New Energy Solar has been recognised as an ABA100 Winner for Eco Innovation in The Australian Business Awards 2017.

The Australian Business Award for Eco Innovation recognises environmentally conscious products and services that provide innovative solutions for new and existing market needs. New Energy Solar received the award for its commitment to developing large-scale solar generation infrastructure in order to provide a new investment opportunity for sustainably minded Australians.

New Energy Solar primarily invests in large-scale, cashflow-producing solar farms that generate emissions-free power. The company is currently invested in four solar farm projects in the United States, with a combined capacity of 226 MW — sufficient to power 52,000 homes — with the aim of eventually acquiring a portfolio of solar and renewable energy assets across the globe.

New Energy Solar is primarily focused on the US, Australian and Asian markets, where declining costs are positioning solar electricity infrastructure as increasingly compelling. In Australia, for example, there was 317 MW of operational utility-scale solar photovoltaic at the end of Q2 2017 — with a further 986 MW under construction.

“For a long time investors faced a choice between investing for returns or for social good, but this has changed,” said New Energy Solar CEO John Martin. “Solar energy is now price-competitive with fossil fuel energy, and New Energy Solar provides an opportunity for investors to achieve both strong returns and positive social impacts.”
