Black & Veatch has appointed James Currie to Director, Client Services, Australia to help lead and grow the company’s global water business in Australia.

Currie has led the company’s Melbourne office since 2008. He has been successful in growing the company’s business in Victoria where he managed the first phase of the $350 million Eastern Treatment Plant Tertiary Upgrade project, and secured panel appointments with both Melbourne Water and Barwon Water. He now takes on a national role for the firm’s professional services business, working closely with colleagues in Black & Veatch’s other Australian offices in Brisbane, Perth and Sydney and the international resources accessible through the firm’s Integrated Global Workforce.

Currie has been at Black & Veatch (formerly Binnie & Partners) for the duration of his 30-year career. He has worked throughout the world, applying his experience across a wide variety of water-related challenges in diverse geographies including Australia, the Middle East, North Africa, Asia and the UK. He led the firm’s Singapore business before relocating to Australia three years ago.

Currie is active in several industry organisations including the Australian Water Association, WateReuse Association and International Desalination Association.
