MWH gives dinner guests a taste of the Barossa

Friday, 13 May, 2011

On Monday 9 May, global environmental engineering and consulting company MWH hosted an exclusive dinner at the Adelaide Zoo. The event, which was scheduled to coincide with the Australian Water Association’s 2011 Ozwater conference, featured a menu designed by Maggie Beer and Simon Bryant of the hit ABC television program The Cook and the Chef, with wines carefully paired and presented by Grant Burge of Grant Burge Wines.

In addition to welcoming CEOs, Chairmen, General Managers, Managing Directors and other executive-level representatives from across the Australian water industry, MWH was pleased to host South Australia politicians the Hon Michael Atkinson MP (Attorney-General, Minister for Justice, Multicultural Affairs and Veteran Affairs), the Hon Steven Griffiths MP (Shadow Minister for Economic Development, Regional Development, Transport and Infrastructure, Government Enterprises, Federal/State Relations and Small Business), the Hon David Ridgway MLC (Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council) and the Hon Mitch Williams MP (Shadow Minister for Water Security, River Murray, Energy, Mineral Resources Development and Manager of Government Business).

The event commenced with cocktails, canapés and a greeting from MWH’s country head Peter Williams. The 170 staff, clients and partners in attendance then settled in to enjoy an indulgent, six-course degustation dinner which spotlighted locally sourced ingredients such as Nolans Road lentils and Bushmin farmed rabbits. Throughout the evening, Beer, Bryant and Burge took to the stage to explain the process that went into crafting the selections and, at the conclusion of the main meal, answered questions from the audience.

Occurring on the heels of Maggie Beer’s recent appearances on MasterChef Australia, the function provided guests an opportunity to enjoy some phenomenal dishes and the company of like minds while taking a breather from conference activities.
