Infrastructure and energy services company Green Global Solutions has invested in two scholarships of four years through the University of New South Wales’s (UNSW) 2015 Co-op Program, with a commitment of $34,000 per annum. Green Global Solutions CEO and Founder Bob Sharon said he places immense value on supporting bright students in reaching their full potential, stating, “Almost anything can be achieved with the innovation and collaboration of the world’s most talented students combined with support from business wishing to improve the way we live, work and learn.”

The Co-op Program offers up to 100 industry-sponsored scholarships a year, providing students with financial aid; the opportunity to apply their university learning to on-the-job applications; and valuable work experience that may prove instrumental when entering the full-time job market. Research has found that 90% of graduates completing a co-op program found work-related employment within one month of beginning their job search, compared to 19% of graduates who didn’t undertake a co-op.

Green Global aspires to provide clients with exceptional outcomes to infrastructure projects by integrating innovative solutions in the area of technology, procurement and finance while engaging talented people and ensuring positive environmental impact. In light of this, the company will offer the scholarships to one photovoltaics student and another of renewable energy.

“We are looking for students with a strong commitment to excellence and the customer, as well as a drive to seek innovative outcomes,” Sharon said.

Sharon enjoys mentoring young talent to build strong relationships, which he hopes will lead to ongoing employment with Green Global Solutions after completion of the Co-op Program. Indeed, UNSW Co-op Manager Kaye Carey noted that more than 80% of students participating in the program go on to work for their industry sponsors.

Green Global is soon to open in Singapore and China, where Sharon will replicate the Co-op Program model in education hubs he calls Centres of Excellence. He stated, “By taking on the smartest students with the right attitudes, the sky is the limit to achieving a sustainable future.”
