Wednesday, 09 May, 2012

‘Cam’ you capture water? The prestigious 2012 international savewater! awards are calling for budding photographers from around the world to share their photographs that illustrate the importance of water and conserving it for the future.

The photographic award is designed to recognise creative talent, with water conservation imagery as the key focus. There are three awards in this category: Junior Student (up to 12 years old), Senior Student (13 to 17 years old), and Open.

Prizes on offer include a new SLR camera, digital cameras and iPod shuffles, with selected images to be used in international water conservation campaigns. The winning student’s school from the junior and senior categories will receive $1000 in prize money.

“The savewater! awards are a wonderful forum in which photographers can be recognised for their artistry, as well as help inspire others to strive for water efficiency through beautiful images. I encourage all photographers from around the globe to enter the savewater! awards photographic competition - you may be surprised at the impact of your work and who it can inspire!” said Nigel Finney, CEO of the savewater! Alliance.

The savewater! awards, now in its 10th year, is Australia’s leading awards program in water sustainability. The awards aim to recognise and reward excellence in water conservation and efficiency by business, schools, government, local communities and individuals.

Entries will close on Friday 20 July 2012. Winners will be announced at a gala ceremony to be held in Melbourne in October.
