GECA–Rebuilt partnership to improve sustainability
A partnership between GECA and Rebuilt has promised to remove the cost barrier for sustainability in construction.
By combining Rebuilt’s carbon measurement tools with GECA’s ecolabel standards, the two organisations will deliver environmental ratings at a fraction of the current price, making it possible for more products to qualify for Green Star points and meet incoming carbon regulations.
“This partnership between GECA and Rebuilt represents a meaningful step forward for sustainability in the built environment,” said Josh Begbie, CEO of GECA. “It gives industry players — manufacturers, specifiers and developers — an affordable, credible way to measure their embodied carbon, meet regulatory expectations and maximise recognition under Green Star. Most importantly, it drives real change by rewarding products that are better for people, planet and prosperity.”
According to Esther Bailey, COO of Rebuilt, the move could accelerate a major shift in the market.
“Environmental performance must be transparent, measurable and accessible,” Bailey said. “By teaming up with GECA, we can multiply our impact, helping businesses not only meet embodied carbon legislation but also demonstrate leadership across ESG dimensions. Making certification more affordable means more products can meet higher sustainability standards, faster.”
Through the collaboration, the companies said manufacturers will gain streamlined, low-cost access to environmental credentials, while specifiers and developers can have greater confidence in sourcing products that are both compliant and recognised by the Green Building Council of Australia under the Green Star Responsible Product Framework.
