Energy and water efficiency top of the agenda for breakfast clinic

Friday, 08 June, 2012

QMI Solutions will be running a breakfast clinic on how to improve energy and water efficiency for manufacturers in the lead-up to the carbon tax. The  clinic introduces manufacturers to the principles of sustainable manufacturing, providing tips on how to apply them to their businesses to stay profitable in the long term. It will be held at the Burke & Wills Hotel in Toowoomba on Wednesday 13 June from 7.00 to 9.30 am.

With the introduction of the carbon tax identified as one of the key issues for manufacturers, as identified in the Ai Group’s most recent Performance of Manufacturing Index Report, it is vital for the industry to understand the implications and put in place long-term methods to achieve a balance on the triple bottom line - people, planet and profit.

The breakfast clinic will cover lean manufacturing, visual performance measurement and sustainable design and product development. Real-life case studies will be showcased to demonstrate best practice for world-class performance in sustainable manufacturing.

QMI Solutions CEO Jim Walker explained that learning and applying sustainable manufacturing principles won’t just benefit the bottom line.

“Sustainability isn’t just about the bottom line and the environment, it’s also about creating a better workplace in which manufacturers can retain talent, use their resources efficiently, increase the productivity of their employees and increase their market share,” he said.

“In this day and age, manufacturers must be competitive and operate with state-of-the-art principles to ensure their longevity.”
