DCCEE releases consultation paper on reporting under NGER Scheme

Friday, 21 December, 2012

The Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency has released a consultation paper on the efficiency of reporting under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) scheme.

The paper has been released to further the Council of Australian Governments’ streamlining agenda and in response to the Australian National Audit Office report No.23 2011-12 ‘Administration of the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Scheme’, which was released on 7 February 2012.

The purpose of this consultation is to gather views on ways that the efficiency of reporting under the NGER scheme might be improved while meeting the legislated objectives of the NGER Act and to quantify the benefits of doing so.

Entities with experience in reporting under the NGER scheme and other interested parties are invited to make submissions in response to this paper by close of business on 1 February 2013.

Details of how to make a submission are provided in the paper, which is available from the public consultations page of the department’s website.
