Call for applications for water innovation funding

Thursday, 18 October, 2012

The Smart Water Fund has announced that applications will open later this month for $1 million in funding to support innovative urban water projects.

Since starting in 2002, the fund has invested in over 195 projects that have received total funding of approximately $30 million.

Smart Water Fund CEO Christine Cussen said, “We’re looking forward to receiving Round 10 applications which can demonstrate innovation and leading-edge research that will have a positive impact on the Victorian water industry.”

This round of funding is open to commercial businesses, research institutions and consulting firms for projects which are able to demonstrate benefits and value to the Smart Water Fund Joint Venture partners. More specifically, the fund will seek applications in the areas of:

  • resource recovery, which is able to leverage the existing infrastructure of a water business (eg, including, but not limited to, water, energy, carbon, greenhouse gas emissions, nutrients, minerals or waste materials);
  • innovation in asset planning, construction, operation, maintenance and renewal with the potential to enhance industry productivity, service level or reduce costs.

Online applications will open on 26 October and close at 2 pm on 15 November.

Information regarding applications for Round 10 is now available at www.smartwater.com.au.
