Bosch awarded for copper reclamation program
Bosch Australia was announced as the winner of the Environmental Solution of the Year award at last night’s Endeavour Awards, which have celebrated and recognised the achievements of Australian manufacturers for the past 13 years.
Bosch won the award on the back of its project dedicated to the ‘Reclamation of Copper from Prescribed Industrial Wastewater’. The program is an in-house treatment process that enables Bosch Australia to reclaim dissolved copper from manufacturing wastewater.
Bosch Australia President Gavin Smith said the company was honoured to receive the award and noted the importance of embracing sustainable and innovative practices that reduce the impact on our environment.
“Through recycling and reclaiming the wastewater produced from [our diode] manufacturing process, we have reduced our industrial monthly waste by 31% and, more importantly, eliminated 40 tonnes of waste from landfill per annum,” said Smith.
“This project is a benchmark for industries with similar wastewater processes and I am extremely proud of it,” he added.
