Biotechnology talk during Melbourne Knowledge Week
Australia has a thriving biotechnology industry with over 1100 companies: 400 covering human therapeutics and diagnostics, plus 650 to 1000 medical device companies, as well as cleantech, industrial companies and those in the agriculture and functional foods sectors.
As part of Melbourne Knowledge Week (26 November-1 December), a talk on Australian biotechnology is being held on 29 November from 5.30-7.30 pm at Hilton on the Park, Melbourne.
Guest speakers include:
- Dr Anna Lavelle: Dr Lavelle is CEO of AusBiotech, Australia’s biotechnology industry organisation that represents 3000 members and works to support and grow the biotechnology sector in Australia. She previously worked as an executive with the Australian Red Cross Blood Service, the CEO of a public health organisation, an industry lobbyist and as an academic.
- Kate Roffey: Roffey is CEO of Committee for Melbourne and has over 20 years’ experience within the commercial, government and not-for-profit sectors, providing high-level expertise in strategic and operational planning and delivery, stakeholder management, organisational change management and political strategy. Previously she was a senior executive with Tennis Australia and former CEO of VicSport.
