Australian awarded at GHD technical conference

At its most recent technical conference, held in San Francisco, GHD brought together 60 of its wastewater, water treatment and desalination engineers from offices in USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

GHD Chairman Russell Board explained that technical conferences have “been a feature of our business for many years” and “bring our talented people together to explore leading-edge solutions and to collaborate”.

“Despite the challenging economic environment, we see great value in linking our technical leaders to create a global network for the benefit of our clients,” he said. “It’s a classic case of making the whole much more than the sum of its parts.”

The GHD Technical Award was presented at the conference to Dr Kostas Athanasiadis, from the company’s Brisbane office, for his StormDMT stormwater treatment device. The product filters a range of contaminants, with a focus on soluble nutrients and dissolved heavy metals including zinc, copper, nickel, mercury and platinum.

Gerard Noone, who oversees the organisation of the technical conferences, stated, “By supporting the technical and professional development of our people, we deliver quality service to our clients.” The next technical conference will be held in Sydney in August.
