2015 Ethos Global Community Project Grants launched

Thursday, 12 March, 2015

Darwin-based charity the Ethos Global Foundation (EGF) has opened its 2015 Community Project Grants, with the aim of supporting new initiatives that promote sustainable development and encourage social and economic improvements for disadvantaged communities.

Every year since 2010, the organisation has provided seed funding for inspirational community-oriented organisations and groups that, through ethical practices, are committed to supporting and strengthening a community’s capacity and resilience. Executive director Renita Glencross explained, “These grants are unique as they enhance a group’s capability to implement important initiatives for positive cultural and societal benefit.”

Committed to cultural engagement, EGF acknowledges the interconnected nature of people, their communities and the environment and works to help support, nurture and enhance these relationships, while alleviating poverty and sickness, economic disadvantage and social distress. The foundation is recognised within the not-for-profit sector for its cultural awareness and sensitivity.

Grant applications are open to EGF members who, through the use of demonstrated ethical practices, are instigating programs to empower communities to drive positive social and sustainable development. Five grants ranging in value from $500-$5000 are available, and recipients will additionally be supported with project planning, development and management and have access to networking and promotional opportunities.

Nominees will be asked to submit an account of their project, its aims and expected outcomes, and to commit to the EGF Code of Ethics. The assessment panel will review the entries in search of the most innovative and socially significant programs, with the recipients being announced on 1 June 2015.

Entry will close at midnight on 15 May 2015. To apply, visit www.ethosglobal.com/got-good-idea-seeking-project-funding.
