Mindarie community benefits from a new vision

Wednesday, 16 January, 2008

BioVision 2020 has signed an agreement with Mindarie Regional Council (MRC) to build an $80 million waste processing plant in Perth’s northern suburbs.

The Resource Recovery Facility (RRF) will treat up to 100,000 tonnes of household waste annually, reducing the volume of household waste sent to landfill, and convert about 70% of recovered material into market-quality compost.

BioVision 2020 will design, build, own and operate the facility for 20 years, which will be constructed on a 10-hectare site in the Neerabup Industrial Area. The first stage of a planned three-stage process is expected to begin in early 2008, with operations commencing in mid-2009.

SITA Environmental Solutions will operate the plant, and Canadian company Conporec will supply the composting technology to be used in the facililty.
