The Emerson Process Management Wireless SmartPack starter kit is a configurable suite of wireless technologies and services that provides users with an easy way to experience wireless technologies in their own facilities. The packs come pre-configured out of the box to immediately form a secure, robust, self-organising wireless network which users can apply to gain experience with wireless without committing their infrastructure.

Historically, users must commit significant resources for engineering, design, configuration and startup when trying new technologies, however this approach gives an out-of-the-box network which users can apply anywhere, anytime with very little engineering time required.

The pack comes standard with a 1420 wireless gateway, a 25-tag license for AMS Device Manager software, Emerson-supplied SmartStart installation services and five wireless instruments which operate as a self-organising network. Users may choose any combination of Rosemount temperature, pressure, level and flow devices, and can choose to increase the number of devices in their pack up to 100 total.

It also features 'forward compatibility' with the future wireless standard being defined now. Emerson will provide an upgrade path on all wireless to the future standard.
