Xylem placed on Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes
Xylem, a global water technology company focused on addressing the world’s most challenging water issues, has been placed on the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index in its first year as a standalone company. Xylem is one of 340 companies recognised on this year’s World Index and one of 140 companies recognised on this year’s North America Index.
The Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI) include companies across all industries that outperform their peers in numerous sustainability metrics. SAM, an investment boutique focused on sustainability investing, invites the world’s 2500 largest companies (by free-float market capitalisation) to report annually on their sustainability performance. The result of the Corporate Sustainability Assessment provides an in-depth analysis of economic, environmental and social criteria, such as corporate governance, water-related risks and stakeholder relations, with a special focus on industry-specific risks and opportunities.
“This is a major acknowledgment of all of the work we’ve done to advance sustainable business practices and solutions, and report our progress transparently over time,” said Gretchen McClain, Xylem’s President and CEO. “Xylem’s selection to the World and North America Indexes is an important benchmark and validates the focus we’re putting on our sustainability initiatives.”
Launched in 1999, the DJSI are the first global indexes tracking the financial performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide. The DJSI enable investors to integrate sustainability considerations into their portfolios while providing an engagement platform for encouraging companies to adopt sustainable best practices.
