  • Pipe system
StormPRO pipes are twin-wall, corrugated polypropylene pipes suitable for stormwater, drainage and farm culvert applications, manufactured in accordance with AS/NZS 5065.
  • Rainwater reuse system
The RainVault rainwater reuse system is an underground system that incorporates modular horizontal cylindrical concrete storage components together with specialised pre-treatment filters, calmed inlet, siphoned overflow outlet and floating intake.
  • Urban stormwater management manual
The manual titled Australian Runoff Quality: A Guide to Water Sensitive Urban Design was prepared by Engineers Australia's National Committee for Water Engineering and published in March this year by Engineers Media.
  • Water and wastewater asset management
Wallingford Software has released version 3.5 of InfoNet, an asset and data management system for the water industry which covers water supply, water distribution, wastewater collection, sewers and stormwater networks. InfoNet enables users to store, validate, review, clean, edit, analyse and report on all their infrastructure asset data held in a single database, to improve both planning and operational decision making.
  • Rainwater reuse system
The Kelair-RRS range features a robust industrial-rated solution to rainwater reuse. The system includes automatic towns' main backup in the event of power failure or insufficient rain/stormwater supply. Due to the flow and pressure ratings of the system, any pump or pump system can be connected.
  • Stormwater bacteria control
Nanotechnology and textile technology merge for stagnant stormwater bacterial control.
  • Gross pollutant trap
A joint venture between Copa Water and Everhard Industries has seen the development of a small-sized CDS unit. The PL0506 CDS Gross Pollutant Trap, or as it has been nicknamed, 'The Nipper', is made from pre-moulded polymer. Apart from treating stormwater the design has already been proposed for a further application in the pre-treatment of grey-water for a large scale water reuse project in Melbourne.
  • Remote terminal unit
ControlWave Expresss RTU for remote measurement and control applications combines the automation technologies and concepts into a hybrid system suited to meet the remote application requirements of the energy, water and wastewater industries. Some SCADA applications particularly suited to the small I/O point count are water pump, tank, well and reservoir control, wastewater lift station and stormwater monitoring, and natural gas well, storage and plunger lift control.

  • Pillows trap pollutants
City of Melbourne conducted a trial of drain litter strainers between July 2009 and December 2009. The purpose of this trial was to survey the litter captured in each trap. A unique aspect of the trial was the use of filter cartridges that were placed at the bottom of each drain strainer to prevent smaller particles of litter and dissolved pollutants in the stormwater run-off from entering the waterways. The filter bags were filled with Reactive Filter Media Technology supplied by Star Water Solutions. These were described in a report on the findings by URS as ‘carbon pillows’.
  • Wetland to clean up Port Phillip Bay
The biggest wetland ever constructed in Victoria has been completed and will play a key role in improving the health of Melbourne’s waterways, particularly Dandenong Creek and Port Phillip Bay. Water Minister Tim Holding officially opened the 48-hectare Dandenong Valley Wetland in Scoresby, which is 24 times the size of the MCG.
  • Stormwater harvesting scheme at school
Sustainable water management and water-sensitive urban design is best achieved by a combination of underground in-system measures and pre-system surface treatments. Together with its underground solutions, Rocla now has stormwater treatment products from enviss for at-source surface treatment applications.
  • Evaluating stormwater treatment alternatives
Maroochy Shire on the Sunshine Coast has an extensive waterway network that adds much to the area’s splendour and makes it a desirable place to live. However, the more people migrate to the area, the greater the threat grows to its catchments and waterways. Today, stormwater and agricultural run-off as well as nutrients from treated sewage discharge pose major risks to the health of the Maroochy River estuary.
  • Stormwater filtration solution
As far back as 2006, a large council depot in South Australia had an issue with silt and hydrocarbons entering its many drains in its large sealed yard. After looking through a few options, it settled on the Drain King by Spilldoktor as the best solution for the application.
  • Beverage industry saving water
After achieving a 5-star rating in the Every Drop Counts Business Program, Coca-Cola Amatil has remained environmentally focused while building its High Bay Warehouse at Northmead, Sydney.
  • Council harvests street drainage for water tankers
Fairfield City Council in western Sydney has proved its commitment to water-sensitive urban design by installing a Rocla ecoHarvest stormwater harvesting system in the centre of the CBD.
  • RAAF defends the environment at Amberley base
The Department of Defence is showing the way in environmental sustainability in South-East Queensland with a large-scale rainwater harvesting program at its rapidly expanding RAAF Base Amberley.
  • Beachfront stormwater solution
Five years after its installation, an innovative stormwater treatment and reuse project at Manly Beach continues to save council over $28,000 per year
