The CC640 digital camera is a low powered, digital camera designed to operate either standalone or in conjunction with a data logger and telemetry system. As a standalone camera and image storage device, it can operate automatically via an in-built timer or be triggered by an external 5 V source. Images are stored on a flash card for later retrieval by PC.

When connected to a CR1000 Measurement and Control system, the camera provides good flexibility in data capture and retrieval. For activation of the data capture process, the control system can be programmed to trigger the camera on the measurement of any combination of parameters (eg, water levels, visibility levels, temperature, etc). Once the image has been captured, it can be stored in the CR1000's memory or downloaded back to base using the telemetry link connected to the CR1000 data logger.

The camera has a 3.5 to 8 mm varifocal lens with electronic iris, resolution of 640 x 480 pixels and a view angle of 35.44 to 79.83°. With a 12 V supply and capability of operating at temperatures of -40 to +70°, the CC640's ability to operate in remote and harsh conditions makes it suitable for Australian applications. The product opens up many new data acquisition opportunities in the fields of security, environmental monitoring, road and weather monitoring, hydrology and agriculture.
