About 230 companies will be exhibiting at the second ProSweets Cologne from 29 January to 1 February 2007.

Launched in 2006, the international supplier fair for the confectionery industry will be held in Hall 10.1 of the Cologne exhibition centre, adjacent to the International Sweets and Biscuits Fair (ISM). The two fairs will overlap by three days.

The fair will be divided into four areas: ingredients, process technology, packaging technology and packaging.

On behalf of the Association of the German Confectionery Industry, Philippe Metzger, managing director of Masterfoods Deutschland, will be addressing current trends in the confectionery market. His presentation will cover the trends of today and tomorrow and provide numerous examples.

The Sweets Global Network will address the issue of packaging in its presentations on the first day of ProSweets Cologne, Monday, 29 January 2007. The main topics will be:

  • The results of an exclusive study of chocolate packaging, conducted by SG and ProCarton;
  • Shelf-ready packaging: What does the trade want?
  • Case studies of added value through packaging.

The German Confectionery Industry will be staging a Confectionery Technology Forum during ProSweets Cologne. Here, visitors can find out from experts about the latest trends and developments in production technology for semi-finished products and confectionery items. This practice-oriented event will focus on tempering, ventilation and moulding technology.

The forum is aimed primarily at product developers, production experts and quality management specialists. The presentations will be followed by a discussion in which members of the audience can also take part.

The German Agricultural Society will be addressing the issue of ingredients, especially almonds, pistachio nuts and nuts in general.

The focal points are:

  • A reassessment of the nutritional value of nuts;
  • Nuts as confectionery ingredients;
  • Almonds as confectionery ingredients;
  • Pistachio nuts as confectionery ingredients.
