Nominations for the Banksia Awards now open

Nominations for the prestigious Banksia Environmental Awards are now open, providing a way for organisations to be recognised for their contribution to sustainability, environmental conservation and protection.

The theme for this year's awards is "A Climate for Change', which the Banksia Foundation said is designed to reflect the need to closely examine how our actions impact on climate change and effect sustainable change.

There are 11 categories for the Banksia Awards this year, including: Built Environment Award; Climate Award; Eco Innovation Award; Land & Biodiversity Award; Sustainability Award; Water Award; Minerals Award; Community Award; Education Award; Local Government Award; Media Award.

The Banksia Awards will be presented in partnership with Origin Energy, under a new three-year major sponsorship agreement.

Nominations for all of the awards close on May 10, 2006.
