Local councils support Local Greenhouse Action program

Friday, 27 January, 2006

An independent survey shows that state and territory councils continue to take strong action to reduce greenhouse gases within their communities.

The Cities for Climate Protection Australia (CCP) survey, undertaken by Nielsen/Net Ratings, aimed to gain an understanding of council officers' perceptions and attitudes surrounding the priorities, barriers and opportunities for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the community.

Results from the survey will be used to progress future local greenhouse action initiatives.

Cities for Climate Protection Australia is an international program delivered in Australia in partnership with the Australian Government and the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives.
