Call for nominations

Nominations for the World Environment Day Awards 2007 are now open nationally.

The World Environment Day Awards program recognises and promotes Australian initiatives which protect, manage or restore the environment.

"The award program is an ideal platform for all sectors of the Australian community to showcase the many important and exciting environmental projects and initiatives developed across the country over the past year. The awards seek to encourage and recognise environmental leadership and stewardship and to promote awareness of environmental issues on a global scale," said Patricia Collett, executive director, UNAA Victoria.

The award categories are: Sustainability Victoria Meeting the Greenhouse Challenge Award; Lincolne Scott Triple Bottom Line Award; Szencorp Green Building Award; Signode Education/School Award; DSE Excellence in Marine and Coastal Management Award; Business Enterprise Awards; Local Government Awards; Excellence in Water Management; Media Award; Community Award; Individual Award.

Nominations close Wednesday 9 May 2007. Winners will be announced at the Awards Presentation Dinner to be held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, 1 June 2007.
